Product Description

The Blade: With its smooth, satin finish, this 6/8" blade has a quarter hollow grind, a square point and jimps on the underside of the tang.

Choose your Custom Scale: Whether you choose the refined sophistication of a quality resin scale or the Old World allure of a premium hardwood scale, the choice is all yours. Replacement scales are also sold separately and can easily be swapped out.

Each Hart razor comes with its own storage box, a hex wrench, and 4-fold instructional pamphlet. For everyday use, apply Classic Brand razor oil; for long term storage we recommend Sentry Solutions Tuf-Glide w/Precision Applicator.

What is different about Hart Steel razors? In the spirit of American cottage industry our razors are created by Artisan Technicians (AT). One AT from start to finish has hand-ground, marked, sharpened and assembled each razor. You'll find the AT's personalized mark proudly stamped on each razor to indicate his craftsmanship and the maker’s assurance of quality.

Our steel is tested at a Rockwell hardness of 62 – 63, giving your razor the sharpest and most long-lasting edge possible. The one-piece scales have a simple elegance and are extremely durable while providing an excellent balance to the razor's edge. The scales are attached by a hex screw so the user can easily tighten or loosen to his preference as well as re-scale the razor. The addition of hand carved file jimps on the inside edge of the blade's tang provide extra grip and control while shaving.

The Hart Steel blades are made from 0-1 tool steel, never old forgings or “mystery metal”. The blades are surface-ground before and after heat-treating in a molten salt bath. The salt protects the blades from decarbonization and oxidation. The blades are then frozen in liquid nitrogen, which assures dimensional stability. Each blade is triple-tempered for a final hardness of 62 – 63 HRC, and finish-honed on a vintage Escher hone and hand-stropped. Every blade is “shave ready” right out of the box.

Absolutely beautiful razor. Excellent weight, makes shaving a dream. Shave ready right out of the box. Stiff working on perfecting the shaving technique but it's coming along. Can't say enough about the craftsmanship, absolutely fantastic. Look forward to purchasing another razor in the future. Thanks for the fantastic service.

    Sincerely,

    Mel Hart.

  2. First Hart Straight razor 4 Star Review

Posted by on 21st Nov 2016

This is my first Hart straight razor, quarter ground and squared off point. That being said, I have some skill adjust to do since I've only used full hollow ground German straight razors with either rounded or Spanish tips. The razor itself is heavier due to the grind but sharp and pointed. I say pointed because I have to really concentrate not to dig that point into my face. That's on me and I'm working on it. The razor seems to have a different feel on my face while shaving that is probably due to the type of blade grind. The shave results, minus the nicks are quite nice the three times I've used it. The razor will do the job of shaving your beard and give you a close shave. I always go WTG, ATG and finish with ATG with some touch ups around the side of the chin and neck areas. I have BBS shaves each time but that is what I'm shaving to achieve. I have finished honed it again today on 12K and 20K stones and have stropped it again but have not used it again. As they say on "Forged in Fire", this blade will cut!!!
